Fantasy zombie landscape

This is my first attempt to make a concept art drawing. I'm not used to tell a story in my drawings mostly because I don't take the time to do so. For this drawing I took some more time and made a basic sketch from fantasy. I worked about 5hrs on the colouring part...now this was great fun!!

As a primer I used coloured Gesso mixed with sand (yes sand).
It gives a nice texture to the canvas. It forced me to work with thick painting-layers

He's back!

I started this painting more than a year ago. I  mainly used red colors, but was never satisfied with the painting. Last week I decided to over-paint it with a blue tone. The red works quite well as an underpainting :)

I try to do more hand-sketches from photo's because I have to draw a lot of hands in my caricature-art.
